My story?
I was born in the UK, married at 21, had a daughter at 23 and migrated to Perth, Western Australia at 25. Looking back, that’s a lot of big changes in short period of time and it probably caused me a lot of stress but I didn’t realise it at the time. I pride myself on being a ‘coper’ in stressful times,
I never fell apart. More about that later. Life was pretty busy with a young child, a shift worker husband and a full time job but I ‘coped’.

I was fairly healthy despite a less than healthy diet and virtually no structured exercise. Occasionally I would try to lose some weight but I was never a serious dieter. In reality I was only a few kilos overweight but like most people I was never really happy with my body. Gradually over the years I gained a little more and a little more but I remained healthy.
I had always been interested in Nutrition and I started to study part time while still working. It wasn’t easy balancing study with a full time career – but as usual ‘I coped’. I had a bit of a wobble when three very close family members passed away within 5 years – but again ‘I coped’. By this time I weighed 100kgs. This proved to be my turning point.
