Hi - Welcome to my Very First Blog!

Welcome, I'm Pam and I decided to create this blog to share my experiences in the amazing world of nutrition and how it can impact our health. I haven't always led the healthiest of lifestyles and my journey has certainly been a bumpy ride.
I was born in the UK & first became interested in food and nutrition at High School. After arriving in Perth, Western Australia in 1982 I decided to pursue formal study in Nutrition but family circumstances interrupted my plans and I spent a number of years working in social services.
This experience provided an unexpected opportunity to develop valuable skills in communication, community education and motivating others to change their lifestyle for a healthier future. The call of nutrition was always present & finally drove me back to formal study after a time of personal reflection, while confined to the house after foot surgery.
Study was not a smooth path, with the added pressure of work and family to balance. Then a tragedy struck my life – my partner passed away suddenly from undiagnosed heart disease. For a short time I withdrew from the world, immersed in grief but eventually I embarked on a path of self discovery. I was a little lost - who was this person? My husband was a very strong character and I had sort of fallen into his shadow without realising it. Suddenly I had no one to hide behind but slowly and surely I found a new person. That person was strong, determined, compassionate, caring and had a great sense of humour.
Fuelled by a desire to learn and determination to help prevent others suffering the loss of loved ones to chronic disease I was drawn back to study to complete the degree I had always wanted – Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional Medicine.
Following the sudden loss of my husband I became even more aware of the need to lead a healthy lifestyle and as part of my journey of self-discovery, I made many healthy lifestyle changes. This included a journey of weight loss. Over a period of time I shed 20kgs without “special diets, shakes or magic pills”. I am able to draw on my own experiences when assisting clients and I am happy to share this continuing journey with my clients.
When I started helping clients I soon realised that telling them what to eat to lose weight was not enough. Something else was going on that prevented them from reaching their goals. It was pretty obvious to me that there was a Mind Body connection and I needed something more if I was going to help these clients. That is when I discovered the Institute for the Psychology of Eating and their amazing Coaching Programme.

I am currently enrolled in this programme and on completion of this course in 2015 will become a Certified Eating Psychology Coach. I believe that this knowledge will enqble me to provide that mising link to help clients with weight loss, overating, binge eating, compulsive eating, digestive issues, fatigue and immune issues.
I can't wait to share this fascinating information with you as I learn so please follow my blogs as I walk this path.
