Can you remember the last time that you really, truly, absolutely felt good about yourself & your life?
For many people that memory is in the dim dark past. Are you actually living life or are you merely existing?
If you had asked me these questions a few years ago I would have had no idea what you meant & probably would have stared blankly at you with my mouth open. I didn’t even remember what feeling good meant. Like a lot of women in their 40’s, 50’s & 60’s, I was just plodding through life, stuck in a bit of a rut & never putting myself first. As for emotions & feelings, I was pretty numbed out – feeling nothing, which is totally not compatible with feeling good. Feeling good means feeling how you want to feel & nobody wants to feel nothing. Knowing exactly how you want to feel can bring amazing clarity to your life. If you could then find a way to create those feelings every day imagine how fabulous your life could be.
So if I was numbed out & feeling nothing, what happened to change all that & bring me to where I am today?
A major event or trauma in your life is very good at providing a wake up call to make changes. Some examples that you might relate to are:
Separation or divorce
Death of a loved one
For me it was the last item on that list – my husband passed way suddenly & with no warning. This threw my whole world off kilter. I left my job that had been a big part of my life for 26 years. After a period of withdrawal & navigating my grief I realised I didn’t actually know who I was or what my purpose was in life.
This realisation was followed by a couple of years of study, workshops & research in personal & spiritual growth, culminating in my indulging a whole weekend to identify what Danielle La Porte refers to as my “Core Desired Feelings”. This was an interesting experience to say the least. I’m currently working on creating those feelings every day in everything that I do.
Some say that Feeling Good is the key to creating that elusive thing called happiness. However according to Danielle La Porte, happiness is a fleeting feeling and we would be better served striving for JOY! Either way she says Feeling Good is the primary intention.
This is where the “FEEL GOOD FORMULA” programme steps in. Over 8 weeks I will help you to identify how you want to feel and introduce some of the key topics that I believe will provide you with the formula to FEEL GOOD. In my opinion learning to love yourself is at the core of this so the Feel Good Formula includes topics such as:
Mindfulness & meditation
Taking time to do more of what you love
Making healthy food choices
